BC tech firm to provide those affected by Fort McMurray fire complimentary access to their technology
In an effort to contribute to the long recovery process after the wildfire devastation in Fort McMurray, a Nanaimo-based technology firm is to provide complimentary access to their mobile and web-based application to all residents, businesses and any others affected by loss or damage in the area. Verified Network Inc.'s mobile iPhone and Android technology will be provided to help homeowners quickly and securely photo document and record details of damage caused by the blaze, possessions that were lost and assets that remain.
Following the disastrous fire and the loss of property in Fort McMurray, the Verified team were considering ways to help homeowners and families disrupted by the fires. Senior Vice President, Greg Stolz explains "We have a daughter and son-in-law who own a home in Fort McMurray and, although their home remains standing, have had their lives turned significantly upside down as a result of this tragedy." Being close to many people in the community, Greg's children Anthony and Dayna Graham have been relaying stories to Greg and his wife Bonnie about many friends who have lost everything and are going to need all the help they can get to help put their lives back together. "Being so far away, we felt helpless and could only watch as scenes of the destruction and stories of how residents have been affected were being broadcast back." While passing on the stories that Stolz had been hearing from his kids to the Verified team, it occurred to them that that their product would be very helpful to those affected by the fire, allowing them to securely photo document and record details of their property for damage assessment which they could then instantly share with their insurer. "We were looking for ways to help, and we had a way to do it sitting right under our nose." Stolz concluded.
